If you’re traveling in Cambodia why not do something that makes a difference?

 
If you are in Siem Reap and visiting the temples of Angkor Wat why not set aside ONE DAY, to see our work, to meet the children and maybe let the children practice their English skills or you could join in the daily tasks or the ongoing projects. Your participation will be greatly appreciated and will enrich the lives of our children.
When you are visiting the temples of Angkor (one of the Seven Wonders of the World)   you will encounter many children selling souvenirs-others will be singing, dancing and begging…. many of them seeking the $ 10 per month which they need for their family to send them to school.

What are the alternatives for these children?

These children have inherited a country torn by 30 years of Civil War which resulted in the death of over 2 million people- including most officials, teachers, doctors and educated people. A whole generation of experience and leadership was lost. Many other are victims of the war and live now in their villages as cripples and amputees. Very few rural families in this province earn much more that US $ 1 a day and life is particularly hard. Many children only receive a basic primary education as in most cases they are needed by their families to work the land.
Official figures show that 88% of rural orphan children receive no education at all.

What City River Hotel is doing to help?

We, here at City River Hotel, believe in responsible tourism and trying our best to make a difference for these needing children. We are one of the main sponsors in getting this orphanage center started. Since this project has started, we have donated supplies, money, time, and energy into supporting the center. The center is progressing and changing the lives of these children day by day, but there is always room for improvements and supports.
The Rainbow Orphanage Center is located 25km (approximately 15 miles) from City River Hotel. Bottled water and fresh fruits will be provided to all guests during transportation from and to hotel. All revenues generate from these trips will be used toward the further support of the orphanage center and cover transportation cost.
Come and join us for a day to experience the forgotten part of Cambodia.

ORPHANAGE CENTER VISITING PROGRAM

FULL DAY TRIP - $15 PER PERSON (minimum of 2 persons)
09:00 Departure from hotel.
10:00  Arrive at Reul village.
12:00  Visit village’s Pagoda.
12:40 Visit rice field.
13:00 Lunch box (prepare by City River).
14:00 Join children for education games, English class, and dance show.
16:00  Take pictures and return to City River Hotel.

HALF DAY TRIP - $10 PER PERSON (minimum of 3 persons)
13:00  Departure from hotel.
14:00 Join children agriculture, handcrafting, and dancing.
15:00 Visit village.
16:00 Children traditional dance show.
17:00 Take pictures and return to City River Hotel.

OPTIONAL ENTERTAINMENTS:
- Ox cart ride - $5 per person (maximum of 3 per cart)
- Bicycle ride - $1 per bike.
